Speaker 1:

Hey guys, it's Kathy again. Happy Thanksgiving week. This is the Fun Over 40 podcast. Something I wanted to share with you this week is the interview that I did on my business coach's podcast. Her name is Holly Haynes and her business and her podcast are called Crush the Rush.

Speaker 1:

One of the reasons I was attracted to Holly as a business coach was because she taught, teaches, she still teaches, she's still around, she's still my coach. She teaches how to grow a business in one hour per day. While you're working a full-time job or maybe you're a stay-at-home mom, you have other obligations. That was really appealing to me as someone who does work a full-time job but who also wants to grow a business on the side. I also thought this was good timing because Holly has one of her offerings like on the table right now. That, I think, is a great way to initially work with her, get to know her, get some quick wins and have her in your back pocket, and it is called anti-social school. So basically, anti-social school is all about getting off the quote hamster wheel of just using social media to grow your business, because social media is not a business plan. That is what she taught me. Yes, do we use social media? Absolutely. But we don't want to lean so heavy on social media that God forbid we lost our social media account and then we have nothing else to fall back on, like an email list, or maybe we're guessing on other podcasts or we're doing things in our community, face-to-face, to get to know people. So there's other ways to grow your business, aside social media. So if you're interested in her anti-social school and learning more, I'll put a link in the show notes. I believe her next group starts on November 27th, which is the Monday after Thanksgiving 2023. So if you're listening to this in real time, you can click that link and get some information. And even if you're not listening in real time, you can still click that link and get information for whatever round she's about to coach.

Speaker 1:

But I highly recommend getting to know Holly. She is really who has helped me learn how to grow a business. I think what's challenging as a health coach is we, as health coaches, have a lot of information in our brains. We've gotten certifications A lot of times, we have testimonials for ourselves, but we don't really know how to grow a business. That's why I started a health coach business basics bootcamp for beginner health coaches to get started and begin growing their businesses and then, after you work with me, if you need to take it to the next level, you can work with Holly as well. She's great. So, anyway, just wanna share this interview that I did with her over the summer and I hope you enjoy it and I hope you guys all have a great Thanksgiving holiday and we'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 2:

Enjoy. On this episode of the Crush the Rush podcast. I'm so excited to introduce you to my friend and client and mastermind member, kathy Mead Fronheiser. Now, the cool part about this episode is, yes, we are chatting about, if you read the title, how to eat like a grown ass woman and how that's actually going to fuel more seven figure launches. But we are going to share how Kathy actually came up with that niche and how the mastermind has helped her along the way, and what that has looked like for her in terms of confidence and growth, and where her journey is taking her and where she has been and it's a pretty amazing story.

Speaker 2:

So if you haven't met Kathy, kathy is a certified health coach with a master's degree in exercise science and she helps high achieving female entrepreneurs over 40 simplify daily habits to increase energy and make more money, and she runs a energy boosters accountability group program, which we're talking about today. It's such a fun concept to help women like you break the habit of really fueling yourself to hit bigger goals right, providing the support for all seasons of your life, and so we're going to get into small daily steps that you can do over time that will lead to great results, and how support and accountability can really benefit all aspects of your life. Hello, kathy, welcome to the Crush the Rush podcast. I honestly can't believe that you haven't been on the show yet.

Speaker 1:

I'm so excited to have you Audio workout at some point, right.

Speaker 2:

I know I'm just so darn excited. So Kathy has been in our community I don't even know I feel like you trusted me, like at the very beginning, and has sort of just grown with me as I've grown, which is so cool. So we're here today, so we're going to tell your story and our story and sort of how we've grown together. But I want to start with your story and so the title of our episode which gets me really excited, and that is how eating like a grown-as-woman will fuel more seven-figure launches. And if you could see the work that we've done to get to this phase of where we're at, Like I just wish I could. Like it could be a book one day.

Speaker 2:

But, just tell us a little bit about sort of where you started and how you got to where you are now specifically helping female entrepreneurs. I would say just have more energy, because I feel like that's the last thing we do Right. We put ourselves last, even though we know it's the best thing we could do Right.

Speaker 1:

Well, my background is in I was a health coach for like full time for a company for about 15 years and during that time I also like taught group exercise classes. I had a boutique fitness studio in Nashville. So I've always been sort of in the exercise, wellness, health space. But then when I wanted to start my own business, it was really trying to figure out okay, well, what of that do I enjoy doing? You know that's. I think that's also just interesting, right, because I think when you come from like a corporate job, you don't get to choose, right. I mean, yeah, you choose like the job you apply for or whatever, anyway, so like. But when you're creating your own business, it's like, okay, what brings me energy? So kind of going back to energy, right, but like what gives me energy, and so, yes, so the initial iteration was like, okay, I'm just going to do health coaching and I'm going to help women over 40. So, which is great because I am a woman over 40.

Speaker 1:

And it's a little different, you know, when you're 40s than it was in your 20s or your 30s or obviously your teens. You know that sort of thing and I think the focus is different. You know we start to in our 40s. Think more about health goals versus just like looking cute in a bikini. You know, yeah, you want to look cute in your clothes, but you start to see your parents age and you just, I don't know.

Speaker 1:

I think you just start to think about like you know what, how do I want my future to look?

Speaker 1:

And also, you know, a lot of women this age have children, and so it's like having energy for your kids, you know. So we went down that path of just, you know, the women over 40, which is a great path. But then it's like, okay, well, how can we niche this down even more? Because I think I personally, I was still struggling and like feeling excited, you know about, and I've just got to feel excited because I do have a full-time job and so this is on the side, and so it's like if I'm going to get up at six in the morning and work on a business before I start work, then you know I need to be excited about it. So just really thinking like niching down, and it actually really and I didn't even put this in my notes and I didn't think about it until just now it was because of the mastermind, because think about it like most of the women in the mastermind group are maybe not all over 40.

Speaker 2:

A lot of them are, though, you know they say they're 35.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and they're business owners, obviously, and we would have these questions and they would. I would just say, well, what do you guys think Like, what would help you? And it was like, all of a sudden, this sort of aha moment of, like these are my people, yeah, like these are the women I'm talking to. I'm a business owner and I always think it's fun when you're like you're your own, you know niche, or however you want to say that Because you can really speak to it, because you think, like, well, I've been in this, I'm in, this is me, like how would I speak to me? What would I want to hear? But then also using the women in the mastermind group as, like you know, my focus group basically, which is kind of fun, so, anyway, so, yeah, so I have been with you probably around two years at this point, if you think about, like my initial six month mastermind, and then I'm about a year and a half into the alumni program or close to it. So and I am I saw somebody post once and I think it was somebody in the mastermind group was like something about, like so what did she call it?

Speaker 1:

Like I need a long runway. That's what she said and that's me. I wish it wasn't me, but it just is. And I'll be honest, I've just had to accept that. You know, I wish I was that girl. That was, like you know, like our friend Kylie, who's in the mastermind. She, like you know, signed up for the mastermind and then, like paid for it in a weekend, like made the money, and I think that's that is so cool, right, like that's awesome. And there's part of me that's like makes me feel bad about myself. I'll be totally honest and I, you know, talk about mindset. I think we'll talk about that a little bit coming up. But then the other part of me is like, look, this is just who you are, you know, and this is just you need a long runway. You're like I'm a planner and I need to like think about it and talk about it. So, anyway, but yeah, that was a long answer.

Speaker 2:

Sorry, no, I love that, but I think you know it's taken us a minute to sort of, and I always say, like we take a step, we pivot and then we figure out okay, did that work, do we like it, do we want to pivot again? And so we pivoted a lot and I feel like we finally figured out, like the thing that you're excited about, yes, and so I want to ask what do you think the correlation is between? I think I know the answer, but I'm curious your perspective between you physical health and business growth and success, right. So why do we think it's so important that because I always say like I'm your best client, because I'm like crap, I haven't even eaten lunch today, and then I'm eating, like my kids, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, right. So, like, what's the correlation between how we feel and how our business grows, right, right?

Speaker 1:

Well, I think, like you said, taking care of yourself is going to. First of all, I think it grows confidence, because I think most women do want to take care of themselves. I mean, somewhere on their list is their health. That just tends to fall down, right. And so a lot of times we make these promises to ourself of like I'm going to meal prep or I'm going to go for a walk, we don't talk to anybody about that promise to ourselves. So when we don't do it, we're really only letting ourselves down. And and I think that affects our confidence, because if you continually set goals for yourself, even if they're just small, super small goals, and you don't achieve them, then you stop believing in yourself, right, because you're letting yourself down. And so I think if we can set these goals for ourselves around health I mean, yes, around our business and all that kind of stuff too, but we're talking about health here then that helps to grow your confidence.

Speaker 1:

And when you grow your confidence, that really, as you, I mean that's going to bleed over into every aspect of your life. And then, just physically, I mean feeding yourself. If we're talking about that, you know, since that's sort of the title of this episode. But you know feeding yourself real adult food. You know, not just eating the scraps off your kids' plates, fueling yourself enough so eating enough calories. You know you don't have to be running a marathon every day to need food.

Speaker 1:

You know, even if you laid in bed all day or sat at your desk all day, you still need food. You know you need calories to fuel your brain. So in order to really come up with these great ideas and work and do these podcast interviews and, you know, work in your business you've got to have sustained energy throughout the day. So that means like a breakfast, a lunch, a dinner, probably an afternoon snack, and you know, and we want to make sure there aren't these huge spikes in blood sugar, so you're not just eating like Twizzlers, you know, or whatever, and a Coke.

Speaker 1:

You know, and I'm not into, like you know, like you know there's not bad food and that I don't believe in, like you know, demonizing any food. But you know it's fine to have some Twizzlers, but like, give me some protein and some, you know, complex carbohydrates. You know the Twizzler can be your dessert and it's like, you know, one or two, not like a whole package, right, but anyway. But keeping your energy sustained throughout the day is going to help you to work in your business longer and that really just comes down to eating regularly, you know, and not having these dips or spikes in blood sugar, so that you can sustain your energy throughout the day. Yeah, I love that.

Speaker 2:

I know one of the things we talk about inside the mastermind is that running a business is like the Olympics, and so it's like your training right, and so you're training, training, training, training, and then you have a launch and it's like that's your event, yes, and then we wonder why we feel like crap because we're not fueling ourselves like an athlete and I'm not advocating that.

Speaker 2:

You have to truly feel yourself like an athlete, but if we're not giving ourselves the energy that we need to truly run a business and a life and all the other things that we have going on, then that's how we're going to feel, okay. So one of the things that you have created which I just love the name is a group for entrepreneurs called the energy boosters. So if you can't tell, kathy is just like jam-packed with energy, like if you need, like a cheerleader in your back pocket, like she is the person. So tell us about the energy boosters and the concept around it. Yeah, about keeping things just like, really simple.

Speaker 1:

Yes. So here's the thing. What most of us do is and I get, we all do this right Like we want immediate results. We want to lose 50 pounds in a week or whatever. Not really that's crazy.

Speaker 2:

But you know, I do.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, please sign me up. But you know that's crazy, and I always tell people I'm like, okay, most likely we've all tried something like that in the past where it was like a quick fix, something that's a quick fix, whatever that is, and most likely you weren't successful, or you were successful but you weren't able to maintain whatever that success was. And so I challenge people to consider just consider, you know, small, like taking it from being a huge goal to like a super small baby step goal, because what we really wanna do is change our daily habits, right, you know? I mean, we have good habits, we have bad habits, and all a habit is is just things we do without thinking about it, which is awesome, right, like an autopilot, you don't think about it, so then you remove it from your brain. It doesn't take up any brain space or energy. You're doing it on autopilot. So the goal is to have, like, healthier habits. Obviously so, but everybody's different. So your life is different than my life is different than people that are listening to this podcast live. So what's gonna work for you? And maybe your goal is exercise, or maybe it's nutrition or sleep or stress management.

Speaker 1:

So, with the accountability group, my goal is A, to find people who are open to being patient, which is a challenge. I always say it's not sexy, it really isn't, I wish it was but open to being patient and trying something new, which is making small changes daily. So, taking whatever your big goal is I mean it's great to have a big goal, right, it's just like in business, it is literally the same thing. You know, I have this goal of starting a podcast. Well, I'm just gonna start it tomorrow, like I gotta back up, and there's steps I'm taking to get to that goal. Right, you know, I'm gonna do some research, I'm gonna buy the equipment, you know that sort of thing. So, but what are the steps to get to that goal? And let's start there.

Speaker 1:

And so, with the group, it's a six week accountability group full of women that are, you know, over 40 business owners, high achievers and are committed to being patient and trying to make small, you know, changes. But it's on Boxer, which I love because we're all, like you know, like I'm an early bird person, some people might be night owl. So you know, the cool thing about Boxer is you can do it any time of the day, right, like I can leave a message now. You can check it at midnight tonight, you know whatever, but my goal is to really have an initial conversation with whoever the participant, including the client, and find out what's their big goal like, whether it's weight loss or getting more sleep, or they may not even know you know what I mean, or they might have like I wanna feel a certain way and we might have to kind of talk through that and then really figure out, okay, where are we starting today?

Speaker 1:

You know it might be working on taking a couple of walks a week or something like that, you know, and we figure that out and then every week we sort of you know for lack of a better term like massage that goal, Because you might try it week one. You know we might say, okay, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, at 8 am I'm gonna walk for 15 minutes and then we get to the end of the week and we do our check-in and it worked or it didn't, and it's okay if it didn't. Right, Like, you learn from that. It's just like when you have a launch that doesn't, that flops or whatever, you learn from it. You know you can't just say, oh well, I failed, I knew I was gonna be a failure. Why am I even trying this? Yeah, that's what we tend to do and that's also the beauty of having like accountability and a coach and a group, because I'm not gonna let you just like, after week one, quit. Obviously, Like you signed up for a six week program. We're doing this.

Speaker 2:

We're just gonna I love that, you know, we're just-. I think the other cool thing is so a lot of times I will have clients, you know, come to me and they're like well, I'm a health coach, I, you know, we talk about this quite a bit I help busy moms lose weight. And I say this a million times and I'm like, well, busy moms is not, like it's not a niche, it's not, you're not solving a problem. Like there are a million busy moms, but like, what does that really mean? And so I really love that.

Speaker 2:

We have been able, over time, to take what you're really passionate about and if you really look at it and I say this a lot too, in our mastermind is you are typically your best client, right? So if you look at who you are, going back to your story, like we kept giving you, the answers were like Kathy, can you help us with this? Like this is really helpful, yeah, so that's how we ended up building your group, right? Because we were like, well, why can't you just help us do that? Like this is perfect for us. Yeah, so I love that and I think it's it's a special group because it's you know, it's not everyone is a business builder. But I feel like if you are an entrepreneur, you know you do have different challenges with. You know, if you're like me and you're sort of ex corporate and you're trying to figure out your schedule and now all of a sudden you have the time to make your lunch, but you have no idea what to do and you're like oh my gosh, this is like a whole new thing.

Speaker 2:

Yes, that's what really, really helps. So, I'm super excited for the energy boosters crew. Yeah, speaking of goals, because I know you and I talk about this a lot, what do you think inside, either the mastermind or the alumni has helped you really achieve sort of where you are now and helps set your own business goals?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Well, I mean, I think it's a combination of things I would say, probably in the alumni. Honestly, I can't remember back to the initial mastermind, it was so long ago, Not really, but you know, I think one on ones with you it's a layered effect, right, Like it's having one ones with you. The alumni office hours, where I can then sort of like bounce ideas off of people again, because it's my demographic really. So it's pretty awesome. And then our boxer group, which, as we always say, is like gold, because in the boxer group we can just ask anything and everyone's in there, all the alumni members. Holly's in there too, so she'll answer, the other group members will answer and you can just get your questions answered.

Speaker 1:

So if I'm between you know, I think what we have our alumni office hours, like once a month and like I had to miss the last one, but because of the boxer group it's not like, oh well, I missed that one. So I'm just kind of SOL until next month. You know, you have that boxer group where you can connect and still and ask questions, and then having our quarterly one on ones that really are a deep dive and I attempt to get them to focus me. That's my struggle. But anyway, and really I don't know like, I just feel like there's so much value. I mean you've been so great to that as you've created new products to offer them to the alumni group if they make sense or people want to do it.

Speaker 1:

I mean, obviously there's no pressure. And so you know, I've taken advantage of a lot of that because I just am that person that needs I just need accountability. I just know that about myself. I think that's why I'm so passionate about that and like the health space too, just because I get it. You know, I mean I don't necessarily need it as much in the health space, but for me, totally in the business space, you know, because I'd rather be working out than working. You know I tell you that all the time Can I just go work out for hours instead of working on?

Speaker 2:

my no. Can you like pass that along to us please? Somehow can you teach us that feeling, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Well, I think it's a balance because, like, I'd love to be more like no, I'm working on my business, you know, because you know, month from now I'm like why did I still haven't started that damn podcast, but anyway. So I just think the layered effect of like the one on ones, the alumni office hours, the boxer group, I mean you're just there's never a period where you just like floating. And I mean there is for me sometimes where I just get to a point like I don't know what the next step is, or I just get stuck or I get confused. There's. There's not a point that where I'm like that and there's nowhere for me to go yeah, I mean to get unstuck really, yeah, no, I love that or just to feel like I'm not alone. I think that's a huge part, because sometimes you're just like why am I doing this? I'm a failure.

Speaker 1:

You know, again kind of that same cycle that happens in health and wellness. Yeah, I can get in that cycle with my business, but I can just speak that in the boxer group. It's like y'all, I'm just feeling whatever. You know, I'm stuck, I'm feeling negative today or whatever, and people of course come in and uplift you and then you're just like, okay, that's what I needed and I can move on now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah Well, I mean, I think that's normal, like it's not abnormal to not feel 100% every day, even though that's that tends to be what we see in any space online. So it's nice to have, I think, real people in your back pocket to be like no, that's okay.

Speaker 2:

Yes. So as somebody that's working full time building a business, also taking care of yourself health wise, what is some advice that you would give to anyone that is listening to? Really put themselves first Right, and I would say, also put what they're passionate about first, because I know for you it's been balancing, like you know, just like how I was like balancing your corporate career and your passion for also helping women and finding time for yourself and all the things.

Speaker 1:

Right, well, I know I saw this question when I was prepping for this question. I was like I have kind of a morbid answer. It's not really morbid, but I just, you know, you talk a lot about white space, right, yeah, you're really just sitting and or walking or you know, however you're going to find that white space. But to me it just comes down to like really think, like take a moment and think about what you want your life to look like five years from now, 10 years from now, 20 years from now. And when I say that I mean like in the health area. You know. So if we are 46, you know, or however old you are, I mean 20 years from now, I'll be pushing 70.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and how do I want to feel? Do I want to be a 70 year old woman who can go to Disneyland with my? You know, I don't have kids, but I have nieces and nephews. So, like with my great nieces and great nephews, or just with myself and my girlfriends, or my husband or whatever, like I want to be that person that you know travels when I'm older and nothing. I'm not going to say, oh, I can't do that because of something to do with my health, you know. So that's a lot. What I think about is just we have one life, you know, and again I don't mean to be morbid, but it's true right, oh, it is true.

Speaker 1:

One life. You have got to take care of yourself to be able to enjoy it. Because I see it all the time where people finally retire at 65. And then within five years or something's happened and they're they can't even. They have literally worked their whole lives and then retire and the life is over. I mean it just honestly almost makes me angry. Yeah, but I think, just really thinking about what you want your future self to look like and be like and what kind of energy do you want that future self to have and what kind of activities does that future self want to do you know so and that is also following. You know your passions as well and you know finding what you enjoy. But I really do think about it a lot with health and fitness and taking care of yourself, because right now you can kind of muscle through. I feel like in your 20s and 30s you can kind of muscle through and then in your 40s you start to feel it a little bit.

Speaker 1:

Totally. When I'm having these conversations like, oh, I'm starting to feel it Well, you think it's going to get me better, I mean really, yeah, unless you do, you have got to do something about, and it doesn't have to be huge. That's the great thing about it. You know we're all starting from a different point. You know, maybe you are more athletic, maybe you're sitting all day, so what you know, so those goals are going to look different, but you have to make it a priority, right as with anything. So so your future self will thank you, I love it.

Speaker 2:

That's so good. It pulls it together so well, okay. So before I wrap up, have a couple of rapid fire questions. I'm excited. Okay. So we're big Harry Potter fans. In our house we're only on book three because we're reading them out loud, which is a whole thing. But what is your Hogwarts house? Because I know you're a big fan too.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, although I will say, you know, I haven't watched a movie or read a book in a while. So I had to look up the houses and I had to look up what. Of course, I want to be in Harry Potter's house. Duh, yeah, so that is Gryffindor. So that would be the house I would choose, because I'm definitely a Harry Potter fan girl, love Harry Potter.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know you could like. There's a quiz you could take online and answer questions. So, like I mean, I would want to be Gryffindor too, but I actually got the Hufflepuff house which you know is like a close second yes, yes, yes, not Slytherin.

Speaker 1:

Not Slytherin Right.

Speaker 2:

No, nobody wants that. What's your favorite outdoor activity?

Speaker 1:

Okay, so this one is hard for me. I couldn't pick one. I mean, I love being outdoors and honestly, I'm just happy if I'm just sitting outdoors, right? You know, I was like I could sit on a beach reading a book. Is that considered?

Speaker 1:

an outdoor activity. I'll take that, but I mean, luckily I live in a super nice, like walkable neighborhood so I love, just like after work at the end of the day, to go for a walk and clear my head and then really for more like fitness. I love, you know, riding my bike and I live in a very hilly, mountainous area, so that is a fun challenge as well. So any of those, I'm always happy to be outside.

Speaker 2:

I love that. Okay, and last but not least, what would you say to someone that is on the fence about joining the mastermind?

Speaker 1:

Yes, I would say, really think about again that's that white space again. But really sit and think where are you at? Are you at a place where you're stuck? Or are you at a place where you don't know what the next step is, that you feel like you need more knowledge, more support, you need accountability. Then you have to again, similar to your health and fitness journey.

Speaker 1:

I mean you have to do something in order to move forward and I definitely don't think you would regret it, right, because I mean I would definitely not be where I am if I had not joined the mastermind.

Speaker 1:

I mean I feel like it's brought so much, not even just to my business but to my life I mean I have made friends and we just had fun and it's but also just the constant direction and accountability that I get and knowing that you know, and like you don't know what you don't know.

Speaker 1:

You know a lot of us have said when we joined the group, like you know we did oh, like a funnel, okay, like, let's do that. I feel like I didn't even know that was a thing, or maybe the funnel is not a good example, but you know, if you're not a business strategy person like you are, holly, you just are good at, you know, being a health coach, for example, but you don't know how to grow a business. You know you've got to find someone to help you, but then someone that's really going to walk with you, you know, along the way and not just provide resources. But I think you know, be there to help and answer questions, because I had done many things in the past where I'd like bought courses. I mean, I'm sure a lot of people listening to your podcast have done this, but you don't actually have access to the creator. Yeah, so there's no one to ask questions to and there's no accountability. So there's plenty of courses I've bought that I've never even looked at yes.

Speaker 1:

So I just had to make a bigger monetary, you know, commitment to, so that I would stay committed to myself as well, so that I would get what I really need, you know. So I would say jump in.

Speaker 2:

Yes, thank you. Okay, tell everyone where they can learn about the energy boosters and where they can connect with you.
